Agriculture is Life in Brazoria County
Brazoria County annually produces $60 million of farm products, mainly cattle, rice, sorghum, and cotton; $20 million of seafood, mainly shrimp. The county is home to one of the world's largest petrochemical complexes, vast resources of bottom land hardwoods, and more than 70,000 acres of national wildlife refuges. Texas AgriLife Extension Service - Brazoria County works with communities, groups and individuals to improve the quality of their lives by providing them with research-based information to meet their needs. We are your local link to the vast resources of the Texas A&M University System. The Brazoria County Commissioners' Court funds and supports Texas AgriLife Extension Service - Brazoria County along with state and federal funds. Texas AgriLife Extension Service - Brazoria County relies on its 5,000 trained volunteers to extend the knowledge and resources of your six Professional County Extension Agents. These agents provide programs and information in the areas of Agriculture, Horticulture, Family and Consumer Sciences, Marine/Natural Resources and 4-H & Youth Development. |
